2009 Twin Cities Marathon

In January I got the idea to do a marathon. I have always wanted to finish one. Brian being the supportive spouse decided to sign up with me so he could help me through the mental issues one undergoes during the marathon. So we signed up together.

Sunday we got up at the crack of down and and headed down to the capital in St. Paul. Parked the car and then took a bus to the metrodome in Minneapolis. Had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes to get underway.

Gun finally went off at 8:00 Am sharp. Off we went, he kept very close tabs on me for the first two miles we where going much to fast!!! We slowed our pace and were able to run till mile 12 without stopping 10 minute miles!!!!

Finally a friendly face!! Yeah Keeley, Taylor, Mom and Dad with my sister Deb and her daughter McKenna just after the mile 12 banner. We stopped to take a picture and complain about how sore we where already and then back on our way.

From mile 12 to mile 17 we were able to maintain a run walk combo. After that Brian cramped up so bad that we had to stop running and resort to walking. THE GOAL WAS JUST TO FINISH!!!!

Fortunately we had been able to maintain 10 minutes miles for the first 12 miles and between 10 and 11 minute miles from miles 12-17. We had to walk the last 9 miles, BUT WE DID IT TOGETHER!!!!

It was the greatest feeling in the world crossing the finish line, but it was even better because I did it with him!!!
